Alan Newman, MD

Biography

Dr. Alan B. Newman is a Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology who earned his medical degree from Wayne State University. Following this, he did his internship and residency training at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In his second year of residency, Dr. Newman was awarded The Wally Jeffries award for outstanding clinical skills and compassionate care. In his final year of training, Dr. Newman was selected by his department and his peers to serve as Chief Resident.

 

Dr. Newman joined Associates in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2000. Since that time, he has been an active member of the department of OB/GYN and teaching faculty at Providence Hospital, frequently giving community talks as well as lecturing to medical students and residents. Dr. Newman was singled out in December 2006 for excellence in teaching and in his contribution to resident education. Dr. Newman is the recipient of the 2015 Physician Excellent Award.

 

In addition to prenatal care and well-woman care, Dr. Newman has special interests in menstrual disorders, menopausal health, minimally invasive surgery and alternatives to hysterectomy.
